The scheme is great fun to do. It is designed by the kennel club to promote dog training and responsible dog ownership, and enhance the relationship with our dogs.
It consists of exercises which you learn in class and a test. All exercises are appropriate to learn for obedience and control away from class (after all there's no point if your dog can only do it in a hall!) Instruction will be given to how to teach the exercises to your dog outside in the real world with distractions. Distractions are added in class to make it more realistic.
There is a bronze, silver and gold test. If you and your dog are successful in each element of the test you will receive a Kennel club GCDS certificate.
The certifcate can help to prove you are a responsiable dog owner.
The scheme is not an obedience test or competition.
The classes run for 8 weeks and are based at Onecote village Hall.
